Jurors for 2016 AIA Abilene Design Awards

Jaime Palomo, AIA            with Casabella Architects in Austin

Jaime Palomo was born and raised in El Salvador, Central America. He relocated to the US in 1985 and received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Louisiana State University and his Master degree in Architectural Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a partner in the Austin-based architectural firm, CasaBella Architects.

During his twenty years with CasaBella, Jaime has built a valued reputation among clients and consultants for his ability to create design solutions that fall consistently within the client’s budget. His work has received multiple awards and recognitions by the American Council of Engineering Companies, the Associated of Builders and Contractors of Central Texas and the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

 

Connie Rivera, AIA           with WKMC Architects in Corpus Christi

Connie G. Rivera, AIA is a project manager with WKMC Architects, Inc. Her background includes teaching in the Department of Architectural Technologies at Del Mar College, working with an architectural graphics design company, and managing the operations of AIA Corpus Christi as their Executive Director. Her past work in historic preservation received awards from AIA Corpus Christi (2002) and Preservation Texas (2003) for outstanding design, and her current work revolves around developing and implementing long range planning with higher education institutions.

Connie has served as President of AIA Corpus Christi Chapter, Vice President of the Junior Chamber of the Coastal Bend, and co-created the Livable Communities Consortium. She currently serves as Chair for the Advisory Council for Del Mar College Architectural Technology Program and as Chapter Director for the Texas Society of Architects.

 

Darren Heine, AIA            with BBA Architects in Brennan 

Darren Heine is an architect at BBA Architects based in Brennan, Texas. He attended the University of Texas, is a Texas Society of Architects Board Member and Treasurer of the AIA Brazos Chapter. At BBA he is responsible for all aspects of a project including the initial design concept, programming, technical detailing, and project management.

Always passionate about his profession and its values to society, he shares his knowledge and wisdom through mentoring young architect in their early architecture careers. He finds ways to engage the general public in the relevance of the architecture they live in as well as serving on municipal boards and committees.

 

Adam Reed, AIA                   with Ford Powell Carson in San Antonio

Adam Reed is a principal at the San Antonio based firm of Ford, Powell & Carson. Since joining the firm, he has worked on numerous award-winning public and private projects. He has experience ranging from traditional architectural projects to interiors, furniture design, space planning and master planning. He has also started an internal “think tank” of talented young designers who focus on design-based solutions for a wide range of projects. Adam volunteers with many community and church-based institutions and currently sits on the local and state boards of the American Institutes of Architects. In 2011, he was nominated for Associate Member of the Year by the local chapter of the AIA and was recently quoted by the San Antonio Business Journal as being a “rising star in the design world.”
